Expanding Growth at Reimagine Care: Interview with Pete Manning

This week, Reimagine Care welcomes Pete Manning to the team as Senior Director, Growth. In this role, Pete will be focused on building innovative partnerships for oncology practices.

“We are thrilled to welcome our newest Reimagineer, Pete Manning, to the team,” shares CEO, Dan Nardi. “Pete’s background and accomplishments align perfectly with our mission to transform the cancer care experience. His strategic vision and leadership will be invaluable as we continue to innovate and improve the quality of care we provide to our patients.” Pete brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record in business development, particularly within the digital health space.

I’m ecstatic! I’ve followed Reimagine Care’s progress for quite a while, and I’ve always been impressed with their thoughtful, provider-focused, patient-centric approach. It’s exciting to be part of the team now – and to work alongside such incredibly talented, innovative, mission-driven professionals. The culture here is – in a word – awesome. I’ve found my tribe!

It’s all about the ‘why’. My north star and Reimagine Care’s mission are the same: to help more people access the clinical support they need, when and where they need it most.

One of my mentors, a practicing medical oncologist, once told me “Caring for cancer patients is a privilege.” I didn’t really understand the full meaning of that until my father was diagnosed with plasmacytoma and I became a caregiver. That experience opened my eyes to the operational, financial, and clinical challenges we all face in oncology – from the caregiver and patient perspective. It motivated me to do more and recommit myself to making a meaningful impact on the future of cancer care delivery.

Before joining Reimagine Care, I held commercial leadership roles within both industry and provider-based organizations, large and small, that were dedicated to improving patient outcomes. For the past 10 years, I’ve helped build business units and value-based partnerships focused on improving quality of life for people impacted by cancer. Prior to my start in healthcare nearly 20 years ago, I served as an Infantry officer in the US Army.

In healthcare, everything begins with trust and doing what’s right – not always what’s easy or flashy. I’ve found that sometimes the simplest strategies can be the most impactful.

For me, it starts by genuinely listening to providers and practice leaders – and learning how we can tailor a partnership that improves their patients’ experience, while also supporting their practice’s short and long-term business priorities. There is no ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach in community oncology – by design. It’s my job to show how we can tailor a partnership to the needs of each practice’s unique patient population and market dynamics through customized workflows, common protocols, and shared data.

It’s also important to recognize the special bond between community providers and patients. Patients want to be treated by providers that understand their needs, know their families, and “see them in the same grocery store checkout line.’’ My role is to help providers envision how we can maximize that connection through our team-based approach – so that each patient receives the highest quality, best possible experience throughout their continuum of care.

Cancer care is complex. Reimbursement changes, new clinical trials, changing preauths, and staffing shortages all add to the complexity of care delivery. That said, by building partnerships around our partner practices’ existing protocols and workflows (not rewriting them) – and integrating our clinical team into the practice’s existing care management platform – we not only avoid additional complexity and new ‘layers’, we can help improve operational efficiencies and productivity.

It’s also a challenge to simply connect with busy oncology providers and practice leaders. They’re pulled in a lot of directions which can make it tough to find time for quality conversations (ironically, our model helps give administrators, providers and staff more time back in their day). I’m happy to work around our partners’ schedules and find time – even if it’s late in the evening. Just be warned our new puppy, Cosmo, may try to jump on camera and steal the show!

Reimagine Care is a learning organization. While everyone here takes pride in their work, they are equally humble and constantly seeking opportunities to improve and build even better solutions. Learning and critical thinking are baked into Reimagine Care’s culture.  It’s real and it’s awesome to see. It’s also the same mindset that will unlock further innovation and enable our team to expand the products we offer and the value we bring to providers and patients down the road.

While recent therapeutic advances and diagnostic breakthroughs in oncology have had an incredible impact on cancer detection and mortality rates, there simply aren’t enough clinicians to effectively care for the volume of cancer patients – today or in the future – using our current care delivery model. We’re feeling the symptoms of this already: clinician burnout, extended waitlists, and in some cases suboptimal patient experience and quality measures.

Our team is eager to help practices overcome these challenges through collaboration and partnership. Please reach out if you’d like to have a fresh conversation about the future of care delivery at your practice. It takes a village.

In welcoming Pete Manning as the Senior Director of Growth at Reimagine Care, we are not only gaining a seasoned professional with a wealth of experience but also a visionary leader poised to drive our vision forward. Pete’s expertise in fostering growth and innovation aligns perfectly with our commitment to transforming patient care through cutting-edge solutions. As we look to the future, Pete’s leadership will ensure that we continue to redefine the landscape of healthcare with passion and purpose. We are excited about the journey ahead and the incredible impact we will achieve together.

For the past 20 years, Pete has grown commercial and provider healthcare companies by selling the value of transformative technologies and clinical services that improve patient outcomes and support value-based care. In the process, he built go-to-market strategies, launched new business units, and developed high-performance teams.

Outside of work, Pete volunteers as a mentor to service members transitioning from the military (American Corporate Partners), a board member for veterans in need of housing (WorkerBee Fund) and an executive board member for an NPO that provides holistic supportive care services to people impacted by cancer (The Dempsey Center).

Pete lives with his wife, two daughters and Cosmo the dog in southern New Hampshire. He’s a DIY’er and regularly tackles home projects beyond his skillset. Pete enjoys hiking and skiing the White Mountains, cheering on his kids from the sidelines, and spending time with friends and family in the backyard.

We believe people living with cancer deserve a better patient experience; to feel their best and to spend as much time as possible with the people they love, doing the things that bring them joy. Reimagine Care integrates clinical oncology experts and robust, enabling technologies to deliver a high-touch, individualized cancer treatment and recovery experience. This holistic approach relies on the combination of empathy and knowledge of our clinical care team with our thoughtfully designed and easy-to-use platform.

Our vision and our approach fuel the delivery of high-quality, safe, home-centered, coordinated cancer care that makes care more patient-centric, accessible, affordable, and the first choice for patients everywhere.
